Possession of the Wood Badge does not of itself entitle the holder to wear Scout<br />
uniform.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Wood Badge consists of facsimiles of two of the beads forming the necklace<br />
belonging to Chief Dinizulu which was captured by the Founder during the Zulu<br />
Wars.<br />
Adult Leaders who have qualified for the Wood Badge will be awarded a special<br />
certificate and shall be entitled to wear the Wood Badge when in uniform. <strong>The</strong>y<br />
shall be entitled to wear the Gilwell scarf on appropriate occasions.<br />
3. SPECIALIST TRAINING<br />
<strong>The</strong> scheme allows for the acquisition of additional skills and knowledge. Technical and<br />
Specialist Courses which may carry subjects to a more advanced level than Wood<br />
Badge Training are arranged, planned and run at Zone and Region level to meet<br />
needs. Zones and Regional Leaders should organise and run as many of these<br />
Specialist Courses as possible.<br />
4. NATIONAL TRAINING TEAM<br />
(a) In accordance with International Training policy, suitably qualified Adult Leaders<br />
may be appointed to the National Training Team.<br />
(b) <strong>The</strong> Training Team shall be primarily responsible for providing advanced training<br />
for Adult Leaders and lead all Scouting Advanced Personal Development ( SAPD )<br />
Courses.<br />
(c) Membership of the Training Team shall consist of a minimum of four and a<br />
maximum of six at any time.<br />
Appointment will be for a period of two years, renewable on agreement by<br />
parties. Certificates of appointment will be issued as recognition of the role.<br />
(d) Appointments to the National Training Team are made by the National Executive<br />
Committee on the recommendation of the Chief Executive.<br />
5. NATIONAL LEADERS<br />
(a) Training: <strong>The</strong> following Leaders (and Assistants, where necessary) are appointed<br />
to co-ordinate the work of the Kea, Cub, Scout, Venturer and Rover sections of<br />
SCOUTS New Zealand and to be responsible for advice on the welfare,<br />
development and training of these Sections: -<br />
(i) National Kea Leader<br />
(ii) National Cub Leader<br />
(iii) National Scout Leader<br />
(iv) National Venturer Leader<br />
(v) National Rover Leader<br />
(b) Advisory: Additional Leaders (and Assistants, where necessary) are appointed to<br />
oversee and advise on the activities of the specialist branches. <strong>The</strong>y include: -<br />
(i) National Air Activities Adviser<br />
(ii) National Water Activities Adviser<br />
(iii) National Activities Adviser<br />
(c) Other Duties: Further appointments as Leaders are made for such other duties<br />
as shall be determined from time to time. <strong>The</strong>y include: -<br />
(i) International Commissioner<br />
(ii) Assistant International Commissioners<br />
(iii) National Adviser (Special Duties)<br />
6. OTHER NATIONAL APPOINTMENTS<br />
Other appointments may be made form time to time. <strong>The</strong>y include: -<br />
