4. Visit each Section Leader at least once a month, carry out on the job<br />
training where appropriate and pass on information about National, Region<br />
and Zone activities and courses.<br />
5. Hold training meetings not less than once a school term in order to<br />
improve skill levels and keep self motivation levels high. Arrange for<br />
appropriately skilled people to conduct the training.<br />
Through encouragement and training, ensure that the sections run their<br />
programmes outdoors at least 80% of the time during summer months and<br />
whenever possible during other seasons.<br />
7. Attend all Zone Meetings in order to learn about youth members due to<br />
move to the next section, receive information for passing on to the<br />
sections, and to share ideas with and support other Zone Section Leaders.<br />
8. Attend all Zone meetings and workshops for Zone Teams, in order to<br />
provide feedback for the Zone, and to have input into the training and<br />
development plans for the section.<br />
9 Complete the Initial and Practical Stages of the Adult Leader Training<br />
Scheme within eighteen months of taking out a Leader's Warrant, and<br />
continue to attend skills training on an ongoing basis.<br />
10. Observe the Code of Conduct and Risk Management Policies of SCOUTS<br />
New Zealand and regularly promote and remind members of their<br />
importance.<br />
11. Hold regular meetings in addition to the Annual General Meeting.<br />
1.12 Position Description - Zone Training Leader<br />
Purpose of the position<br />
To plan, co-ordinate, organise and implement the training activities in the Zone<br />
and ensure the standard of presentation is as high as possible.<br />
Accountable to<br />
<strong>The</strong> position is accountable to the Zone Leader for all adult training activities in<br />
the Zone. It is one of a large number of positions reporting to the Zone Leader.<br />
Liaises with<br />
• <strong>The</strong> National Development Manager<br />
• Other Zone Training Leaders<br />
• Zone Section Leaders<br />
Key tasks<br />
1. In conjunction with the Regional Development Manager and the<br />
appropriate National Section Leader, recruit, appoint and train Zone<br />
Leaders/Advisers who can lead and deliver a quality training and support<br />
service to each section or branch of Scouting.<br />
2. Together with the Zone Leaders and Advisers, develop and publish an<br />
Annual Zone Training Plan based on SCOUTS New Zealand’s Leader<br />
Development Programme and required skill needs.<br />
3. Ensure the Zone’s Leader training records are kept current so that both the<br />
current level of Leader training achieved and future needs are easily<br />
established.<br />
4. Assist the Regional Development Manager to train newly appointed Zone<br />
Leaders.<br />
5. Observe the Code of Conduct and Risk Management Policies of SCOUTS<br />
New Zealand and regularly promote and remind members of their<br />
