1.13 Position Description - National Section Leader<br />
Purpose of the position<br />
To provide leadership for and development of the section in accordance with the<br />
aims of SCOUTS New Zealand and the section objectives.<br />
Accountable to<br />
National Section Leaders are accountable to the National Commissioner for:<br />
• <strong>The</strong> review and development of the section programme to ensure it meets<br />
the aim of SCOUTS New Zealand and the objectives of the section.<br />
• Monitoring of the total programme performance on an annual basis to<br />
ensure section objectives are achieved.<br />
• Regular determination and review of the training needs of the section by<br />
monitoring programme delivery, ensuring that training provided is relevant<br />
and correctly delivered.<br />
• Achievement of a good level of co-operation and understanding through all<br />
levels of SCOUTS New Zealand in order to foster continual development of<br />
the section.<br />
• Planning and implementation of programme content of National Events to<br />
ensure they meet the objectives of the section.<br />
Liaises with<br />
• Zone Leaders<br />
• Regional Development Managers<br />
• National Development Manager<br />
Key tasks<br />
1. Provide advice and recommendations to the National Commissioner on<br />
policy and rules relating to the section.<br />
2. Facilitate the production and distribution of resource material for use within<br />
the section.<br />
3. Provide information and advice to the sections through newsletters and<br />
Regional or National meetings for the Zone Section Leaders.<br />
4. Liaise with the National Commissioner to ensure the development and<br />
implementation of programme policy and leader training within the section.<br />
5. Provide input and assistance to National Office in the production of<br />
publications issued by SCOUTS New Zealand in support of the youth<br />
programme and Leader training.<br />
6. Liaise with the National Commissioner on matters pertaining to uniform,<br />
badges and publications relating to the section.<br />
7. Support the planning and supervision of National events and activities for<br />
the section to ensure that the programme content is in accordance with<br />
Youth Programme policy.<br />
8. Assist SCOUTS New Zealand to monitor the delivery standard of the section<br />
programmes.<br />
9. Observe the Risk Management Policy of SCOUTS New Zealand and<br />
regularly promote and remind members of its importance.<br />
