1.4 Position Description - Assistant Cub Leader<br />

Purpose of the position<br />

To help operate the Cub Pack so that the youth members enjoy activities that<br />

meet the aims and objectives of the Cub Section Programme.<br />

Accountable to<br />

<strong>The</strong> Assistant Cub Leader is accountable to the Group Leader through the Cub<br />

Leader, and assists with the implementation of the Cub Pack programme.<br />

Liaises with<br />

• <strong>The</strong> parents and caregivers for support and assistance.<br />

• Zone Cub Leaders for training and support.<br />

• Other Cub Leaders for mutual support and sharing of programme ideas.<br />

• Scout Leaders to arrange the progression of Cubs to the Scout Troop.<br />

• Kea, Scout and Venturer Leaders to keep each other informed of section<br />

development matters.<br />

Key tasks<br />

1. Help plan and run fun activities that meet the goals listed in the Cub<br />

Programme.<br />

2. Endeavour to build and maintain adequate membership levels through<br />

recruitment techniques.<br />

2. Prepare and encourage Pack members to progress to the Scout Troop.<br />

3. Attend Group Council Meetings in order to share in the Group<br />

communication system and be well informed about Group matters.<br />
