53. CHIEF SCOUT AND PATRON<br />

NATIONAL ORGANISATION<br />

A Chief Scout shall be appointed by the National Council. <strong>The</strong> Chief Scout may<br />

be a Patron of the Movement in New Zealand.<br />

54. PATRONS AND AMBASSADORS<br />

Patrons may be appointed by the National Council in accordance with the<br />

By-laws.<br />

<strong>The</strong> National Council, on the recommendation of the National Executive, may<br />

from time to time appoint special representatives who shall be known as<br />

Ambassadors for SCOUTS New Zealand and who will have titles and duties as<br />

determined by the Executive.<br />

55. NATIONAL CHAIRMAN & NATIONAL COMMISSIONER<br />

<strong>The</strong> appointment, responsibilities and functions of the National Chairman and<br />

the National Commissioner are set out in the By-Laws of the Association.<br />

56. NATIONAL COUNCIL<br />

<strong>The</strong> National Council as provided for in the By-laws of the Association is the<br />

body responsible for deciding the policy of the Movement in New Zealand.<br />

57. NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE<br />

<strong>The</strong> National Executive Committee, as provided for in the By-laws, shall<br />

govern the Association in conformity with the policy laid down by the<br />

National Council.<br />

58. NATIONAL AWARDS COMMITTEE<br />

(a)<br />

<strong>The</strong> National Executive will appoint a National Awards Committee<br />

immediately following each Annual General Meeting of the<br />

Association.<br />

(b) Membership of the National Awards Committee will be:<br />

• National Commissioner<br />

• A minimum of two and up to four other people<br />

Members will be appointed to the Committee for a 12 month term.<br />

(c) <strong>The</strong> National Secretary will attend all meetings of the National Awards<br />

Committee and provide advice and secretarial services.<br />

(d) <strong>The</strong> duties of the National Awards Committee will be:<br />

• To monitor the adult awards system and make recommendations<br />

on its implementation to the National Executive<br />

• To consider applications and make awards for the Silver Tiki and<br />

the Silver Tui<br />
