30. MEMBERSHIP<br />

PART C<br />

MEMBERSHIP AND WARRANTS<br />

(a) Membership of the Association is available to adults and young people<br />

subject to conditions specific to particular appointments and classes of<br />

membership.<br />

While some rules use masculine nouns and pronouns, they are not intended to<br />

exclude female members.<br />

Foreign Nationals may be admitted as members subject to the approval of<br />

the Zone Leader. and will then make or re-affirm the Scout Promise in the<br />

following form<br />

"On my honour I promise to do my best -<br />

To do my duty to my God<br />

To the country in which I am living,<br />

To help other people<br />

And to live by the Scout Law."<br />

(d) <strong>The</strong> following are considered members of the Movement so long as they are<br />

properly serving in the positions enumerated:<br />

(i)<br />

(ii)<br />

(iii)<br />

<strong>Scouts</strong> who are members of a registered Group<br />

Warranted Leaders, Adult Helpers, Programme Activity Leaders and<br />

Scouting Associates all of who must complete a Letter of Appointment and<br />

comply with the Association’s Duty of Care.<br />

Rovers<br />

(iv) Persons holding non-warranted or honorary ranks.<br />

(v)<br />

Members of Group Committees, Zone and Regional Councils.<br />

(vi) Members of the National Council.<br />

(vii) Life Members of the Association.<br />

31. SUSTAINING MEMBERSHIP<br />

<strong>The</strong> Association may confer, upon any person, firm or company, the status of a<br />

sustaining member in recognition of services rendered or donations made to the<br />

Movement. A sustaining member shall not, by virtue of such membership, be entitled<br />

to vote or to any of the privileges of membership of the Association.<br />

32. VACANT<br />

33. HONORARY MEMBERSHIP<br />

Any Group, or Zone may appoint any person as an Honorary Member of that Group, or<br />

Zone in recognition of long and meritorious service.<br />
