Key tasks<br />
1. To recruit and appoint Leaders for each section, and with the Zone Leader’s<br />
assistance, organise training so that each section has the required number<br />
of competent and enthusiastic Leaders who work as a team.<br />
2. Endeavour to build and maintain adequate membership levels through<br />
recruitment techniques.<br />
3. Encourage each Leader to undertake Adult Leader Training.<br />
4. Complete the Initial and Practical Stages of the Adult Leader Training<br />
Scheme within eighteen months of taking out a Leader's Warrant, and<br />
continue to attend skills training on an ongoing basis.<br />
5. Run at least one Group Council per school term.<br />
6. Assist the leaders to review the Programme each term in order to monitor<br />
the quality and balance of the section programmes.<br />
7. Ensure that the Group has an effective Committee.<br />
8. Ensure that the Group membership and administrative records are current.<br />
9. Ensure that adult Leaders and committee members receive timely awards<br />
in recognition of their services.<br />
10. Attend Zone Meetings regularly.<br />
11. Observe SCOUTS New Zealand’s Code of Conduct and Risk Management<br />
Policy and regularly promote and remind members of their importance.<br />
1.10 Position Description – Zone Leader<br />
Purpose of the position<br />
To support and develop the Group Leaders, Group Committees and Leaders of<br />
Clubs, Packs, Troops and Units in the Scout Zone in such as way that they run<br />
effective and enjoyable programmes for their youth members.<br />
Accountable to<br />
<strong>The</strong> position is accountable to the Regional Development Manager for the<br />
administration, general welfare and development of SCOUTS New Zealand in the<br />
Zone, and the progressive training of its members.<br />
Liaises with<br />
• Group Leaders in the Zone<br />
• Zone Section Leaders<br />
• Other Zone Leaders for support and sharing of ideas<br />
• National Section Leaders for guidance and support<br />
• Local Community for promotion and support for SCOUTS New Zealand<br />
Key tasks<br />
1. Plan and organise the formation of new Groups and encourage the<br />
development of existing Groups in the Zone.<br />
2. Recruit and develop a competent and enthusiastic Zone Section Leader for<br />
each section in SCOUTS New Zealand so as to ensure all Adult Leaders<br />
receive training when required, and that all youth members enjoy an<br />
attractive scheme of progressive training in accordance with Clause 1<br />
above.<br />
3. Ensure every Scout Group has an effective Group Leader by recruiting and<br />
training suitable people as required.<br />
4. Ensure that the Zone Leaders visit the Section Leaders in each Group<br />
regularly in order to provide support and on the job training where needed.<br />
