152. "CORNWELL SCOUT" BADGE<br />

PART K<br />

AWARDS<br />

(a)<br />

Basis Of Award: <strong>The</strong> "Cornwell Scout" Badge is an exceptional award in<br />

respect of pre-eminently high character and devotion to duty, together<br />

with great courage, endurance or gallantry.<br />

(b) This award is granted by the Chief Scout of New Zealand or National<br />

Commissioner on the recommendation of National Office only to <strong>Scouts</strong><br />

under the age of 19 who have an outstanding record of service and<br />

efficiency.<br />

Form of Application: <strong>The</strong> form of application, which gives fuller details, may<br />

be obtained on application to National Office<br />

153. AWARDS FOR GALLANTRY<br />

Awards for Gallantry are granted by the Chief Scout of New Zealand or<br />

National Commissioner on the recommendation of National Office to<br />

<strong>Scouts</strong>, Adult Leaders, Rover <strong>Scouts</strong>, persons holding non warranted and<br />

honorary ranks, and also to Groups in cases of joint action on the<br />

recommendation of the Zone Leader<br />

Applications must incorporate a full account of the occurrence, with the<br />

evidence of eyewitness, wherever possible.<br />

<strong>The</strong> application must not specify any grade of award.<br />

<strong>The</strong> following awards are granted:<br />

Bronze Cross-. Red Ribbon.<br />

<strong>The</strong> highest possible award for gallantry, granted only for special<br />

heroism or extra-ordinary risk.<br />

Silver Cross-. Blue ribbon.<br />

For gallantry with considerable risk.<br />

Gilt Cross. Blue and red vertical ribbon.<br />

For gallantry with moderate risk.<br />

(iv) Bar. Bars to the above Crosses may be granted for additional acts of<br />

gallantry.<br />

(v)<br />

Chief <strong>Scouts</strong> Commendation. In cases which do not justify the award<br />

of a Cross or Bar.<br />

(f)<br />

Method of Wear: Crosses are worn on the right breast, except where<br />

awarded to a Group jointly, in which case the Cross may be pinned to the<br />

Group flag.<br />

(g) Certificates of Award: Certificates of Award are issued to accompany all<br />

Crosses and Bars.<br />
