(d) Parties of adult members which do not include any youth members are not<br />

required to obtain permission but should use the activity intention form to plan<br />

their activity and inform a contact person in all circumstances described in<br />

paragraph (a).<br />

(e) Where an activity is to take place outside the Group Leader's own Zone copies of<br />

the Activity Intention form shall be forwarded to all host Zone Leaders. If the<br />

host Zone Leader’s name and address are not known copies may be sent to<br />

National Office and they will be sent on.<br />

(f) If there is any doubt as to whether an activity intention form is required the<br />

Group Leader shall make a ruling.<br />

Note: Those Leaders who consent to an activity as above or are responsible for<br />

the activity must be able to justify their actions should they be subsequently<br />

questioned and failure to do so may result in disciplinary action.<br />

24. SPECIAL ACTIVITY AREAS<br />

(a) Special Activity Areas are particular parts of the country which require a special<br />

permit from the authority controlling the area.<br />

e.g. Waitakeres Regional Park<br />

(b) <strong>Scouts</strong> entering any such areas shall obtain a special permit where required and<br />

be subject to such rules as are made locally in respect of the area so designated.<br />

25. KEA CLUB ADVENTURE DAY<br />

Keas may undertake special day activities which are carried out at a selected site<br />

away from the usual place of meeting.<br />

(a) Activities carried out should be ones which could not be undertaken at a weekly<br />

meeting - greater emphasis on the outdoors and to make full use of the chosen<br />

site.<br />

(b) Adult help should be no less than one adult to four Keas with a minimum of two<br />

warranted Leaders.<br />

26. KEA COMBINED ACTIVITIES<br />

Kea Clubs may join together for an activity. If Clubs from different Zones are involved<br />

the prior consent of the Zone Leaders concerned must be obtained.<br />

27. KEA OVERNIGHT SLEEPOVER<br />

This is an optional part of the Kea Club Programme.<br />

Requirements: Keas may participate in a Kea Club Overnight Sleepover provided they<br />

are accommodated for sleeping in a Scout Hall, Church Hall, School or other suitable<br />

building in the Club’s immediate local community and subject to the following<br />

conditions:<br />

1. <strong>The</strong>re must be access to a telephone at all times during the sleepover.<br />

2. An Activity Intention Form must be obtained.<br />

3. <strong>The</strong> sleepover must be for one night only.<br />

4. <strong>The</strong> Activity must comply with SCOUTS New Zealand’s <strong>Rule</strong>s and Risk<br />

Management Policy.<br />

5. <strong>The</strong> prior written consent of parents or caregivers must be obtained together<br />

with appropriate medical information about each Kea.<br />

6. <strong>The</strong>re must be at least two warranted leaders, one of whom is the Kea Leader or<br />

Assistant Kea leader from the Club concerned.<br />

7. Excluding the Adult Leader in charge, there must be at least one adult for every<br />

four Keas attending the sleepover.<br />
