wife. Thia is clear from <strong>the</strong> absence <strong>of</strong> any mention <strong>of</strong> children <strong>of</strong> his from both <strong>the</strong><br />
Dundee records and also from all <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r records searched for this work. In particular,<br />
<strong>the</strong> Dundee Register <strong>of</strong> Baptisms conta<strong>in</strong> no entry <strong>of</strong> any such issue. His two marriages<br />
were<br />
i. About 29 April 164.3 to Elspet Fletcher, natural daughter <strong>of</strong> Sir George George<br />
Fletcher <strong>of</strong> Restemoth, Kt. Tliis is proved by a sas<strong>in</strong>e, 10 .June 164:3, to her and her<br />
husband <strong>of</strong> property <strong>in</strong> Diuidee, made with consent <strong>of</strong> -lames Fletcher, <strong>the</strong> provost, and<br />
referr<strong>in</strong>g to <strong>the</strong>ir marriage contract <strong>of</strong> 29 April (D.P.B. 470). There is also a decree<br />
0. her and her husband 21 Julv 16-52 (D.B.R. 455). !She died between Mart<strong>in</strong>mas 1663<br />
and Whitsuntide 1664 (D.M.l). 4).<br />
ii At Dundee (by banns), 17 Dec. 1664 (D.M. 9), to Christian Dun<strong>ca</strong>n. He<br />
would seem to have been already married to her by t^cotch law. as, 18 July preced<strong>in</strong>g,<br />
Geoi-ge Fletcher, bailie, dispones a tenement to <strong>the</strong>m and <strong>the</strong>ir children, if <strong>the</strong>y should<br />
have any (D.D. 27). They are named aga<strong>in</strong> 28 Jan. 1676, when Andrew settles an Overgait<br />
house on himself and his wife, but no children are named {ih. 26). Christian Dun<strong>ca</strong>n<br />
died between Sept. 1677 and Sept. 1678 (D.M.D. 8).<br />
