bpru <strong>the</strong>ivfoie after 15SG. He is only four times named <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Dundee Records,<br />
'<br />
viz., (a) 1G05, Maj- 18, when Robert Wedderbum, notary, and Alexander, his .son,<br />
witness a precept (I) P.B. 339 c) ;<br />
(i) 1606, Sept. 18, when Robert Wedderbum,<br />
elder, and Margaret .My<strong>in</strong>, his wife, settle <strong>the</strong> "Creneland" on <strong>the</strong>ir son and heir<br />
apparent, Alexander Wedderbum, and on <strong>the</strong>ir two daughtei-s, Janet and Elizabetli<br />
(i6. 364); (c) 1G07, June 14, when Robert Wedderbum, elder,burgess, and Alexander,<br />
his sou, are witnesses (ib. 3G8) ; and ((/) 1G08, April, 28. when Alexander, son <strong>of</strong><br />
Robert Wedderbum, notary, is a witness (i'6. 370 c). He is also named once <strong>in</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> Vcmtpt Duik <strong>of</strong> his cous<strong>in</strong>, David Wedderbum, as witness with his fa<strong>the</strong>r<br />
24 May 1G08 (D.W. 17/). This is <strong>the</strong> last mention <strong>of</strong> him, and it is clear, from<br />
<strong>the</strong> fact that his cous<strong>in</strong> Peter was heir to his fa<strong>the</strong>r (ut sup.) that he died s.p., and<br />
no doubt unmarried, <strong>in</strong> his fa<strong>the</strong>r's life. Probably he died 1608-9, as 7 March<br />
1609 we f<strong>in</strong>d his fa<strong>the</strong>r settl<strong>in</strong>g his North Argylegait property on his greatnephews<br />
Peter, son to <strong>the</strong> clerk, and Alexander, son <strong>of</strong> David <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> C'ampt<br />
Buik (D.W. 21 e, D.P.B. 374).<br />
and two daughters,<br />
1. Janet Wedderbum. Fii-st named <strong>in</strong> a bond, 4 Nov. 1603, by her parents to her<br />
(l).B.R. 351), and aga<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong> an obligation to her and her fa<strong>the</strong>r, 26 July 1605<br />
{ib. 365 a). See also <strong>the</strong> settlement on her bro<strong>the</strong>r Alexander, 18 Sept. 1606<br />
(D.P.B. 364). She died uum. before 1611.<br />
2. Elizabetli <strong>Wedderburn</strong>, named <strong>in</strong> an obligation to her parents and herself,<br />
20 May 1605 (D.B.R. 365 6), and <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> settlement {ut sup) <strong>of</strong> 1606 (D.P.B. 364).<br />
She also died unm. before 1611.1<br />
• With regard to <strong>the</strong> de.^tli <strong>of</strong> all Robert's cliildren <strong>in</strong> his life, reference may be made to <strong>the</strong> fact that <strong>the</strong><br />
plapue <strong>ca</strong>me to Dundee from " St Bartillid merket <strong>in</strong> Franchland " early <strong>in</strong> 1605 and was still rag<strong>in</strong>"<br />
<strong>in</strong> Xov. 1608, four thousand deaths hariug occurred up to that time (see D.P.B. vol. 262, post, ii, p 236)'
