after, as 19 Oct. <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> same year she is spoken <strong>of</strong> as <strong>the</strong> future wife <strong>of</strong> Peter (sou<br />
<strong>of</strong> Peter) Clayiiills (l).B.K. "ic^), and <strong>the</strong>reafter she and her husband are <strong>of</strong>ten<br />
named, eg, 21 May 15t*9 (D.I'.i;. 277), wiien <strong>the</strong>y jrrant an annual-rent out <strong>of</strong><br />
Ballisak to George L<strong>in</strong>dsay and Grisild <strong>Wedderburn</strong>, liis wife (ante, p. 2.')). They<br />
liad witii o<strong>the</strong>r issue a son. Alexander, on wliom settlements wore made 20 Oct. 1595<br />
and 28 March 1597 (l).l' B. 304 /j, 310), and who was ult<strong>in</strong>iatelv returned heir to<br />
hisfathcr 15 April l(il2 ;S.\V. 175 ; Il.D. 32). Peter Clayhills, "'my gude bro<strong>the</strong>r,"<br />
is oc<strong>ca</strong>sionally named <strong>in</strong> 1 'avid <strong>Wedderburn</strong> 's Comid Bui'k M.W. 3, i \ a).' He and<br />
his wife got sas<strong>in</strong>e <strong>of</strong> a North Seagait laud, 28 Feb. 15DS (D.P 1>. 327), and are<br />
named as grant<strong>in</strong>g a discharge, 27 May 1602 {ib. 348 n). He was a bailie iu<br />
Dundee (D.i; R. 402). The year <strong>of</strong> his death is not fi.\cd, but it was before<br />
3 June IC09. <strong>the</strong> date <strong>of</strong> a bond <strong>in</strong> which his wife is named as his relict (II D. 33).<br />
She was liv<strong>in</strong>g 15 April 1612 (S W. 175), and is no doubt <strong>the</strong> Margaret <strong>Wedderburn</strong>,<br />
not designed, who is named <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Dundee records 16031 7 (D.B.U., vols,<br />
xxii.-v.), e.g 26 July 1617, when she gets a decree for <strong>the</strong> niaills <strong>of</strong> a house <strong>of</strong><br />
which she had <strong>the</strong> life-rent (D.B.R. 400 6). She died 20 Sept. 1617, and is referred<br />
to as deceased IS Nov. 1617, when her daughter, Helen Clayhills, is named as her<br />
executri.K (D.DU. 402). She was buried <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Howft' <strong>of</strong> Dundee under a tomb,<br />
upon which was an <strong>in</strong>scription, partly legible as follows <strong>in</strong> 1834 :<br />
