connected to the network is by means of relationship classes with HydroJunctionsrepresenting outlets or instream point representations. That is, any point, line, orarea feature can be connected to the network through a HydroJunctionrelationship. The schematic network in Arc GIS is comprised of Schematic Nodes andSchematic Links representing area and point features that are topologicallyconnected. In this case, the Schematic Network in Arc Hydro also resembles thetopologic network connections in HEC-HMS. The Schematic Nodes in particularrepresent all the possible HMS hydrologic elements (subbasin, reservoir, junction, diversion, source, and sink) but now inside a geographic framework. All theschematic nodes (representing HMS elements) get automatically connected to theHydroJunction by assigning the HydroID of the HydroJunction at the HMS nodelocation to the FeatureID attribute of the Schematic Node feature class.Figure 4.14 Arc Hydro and HMS connectivity through SchematicNodeRelationship114
