The name of the modeling element (in HEC-HMSin this case) is normally assigned to the pathname’s B Part. In Arc Hydro, theTimeSeries table storing the values and associated time stamp are related to ageographic feature by means of a relationship class that is defined by populatingthe FeatureID field in the TimeSeries table with the HydroID of the feature thathas ownership over the times series records. In addition to this, theDSSTSCatalog table listing all the HEC-DSS records also contains the FeatureIDfield with the HydroID of the feature it belongs. On implementation, theDSS2GDB application extracts the B Parts from the HEC-DSS file that match theflow change points in HEC-HMS (as stored in the SchematicNode feature class,see section 3.4.3) gets the HydroIDs from the related HydroJunctions, and storesthe corresponding HydroID of the HydroJunction (not the Schematic Node) in theFeatureID field of the DSSTSType table. Thus, the B Part is searched based onthe SchematicNode definition of flow change points and then used to populate theB part field of the DSSTSType table.129
