Once the identification of flow change points is achieved, the DSS2GDBapplication can access the DSS file, search for its corresponding time seriesrecords, and transfer them over the geodatabase. Besides being identified <strong>by</strong> theHMSCode attribute field, the Schematic Nodes have to be associated with itscorresponding time series records (runoff hydrographs) in the geodatabase. Toprovide for the time series association, the DSSTSType table storing the HEC-DSS descriptors for each flow change location is also attributed with a FeatureIDfield (in the same way as the TimeSeries table) populated with the HydroID of theassociated feature having ownership on the data.Figure 4.17 DSS Time Series Catalog in Arc HydroThe DSS2GDB script tool makes use of the HEC-DSS catalog (.dsc fileextension) to obtain a list of all pathnames in the HEC-DSS file and populatesexisting TimeSeries, TSType, and DSSTSType tables in the extended Arc Hydrogeodatabase. The TimeSeries table contains the time stamp and the time seriesvalue for a unique combination of FeatureID (site location of dataset) andTSTypeID (variable type).117
