Figure 3.21 DSSTSCatalog in Arc HydroAfter the storage system for the data was defined (the above table), somecomputer applications (in the form of script tools) were develop to transfer thedata from the HEC-DSS system into the predefined Arc Hydro table (a so calledHEC-DSS time series “bridge” application).To accomplish this, the Arc Hydro structure must contain not only thetime series records but also their corresponding type descriptors for the Arc Hydroand HEC-DSS systems. The time series records itself are stored in a standard ArcHydro table called “TimeSeries” which contains the time stamp and its associatedvalue. The type of time series for Arc Hydro is also stored in a standard tablecontaining the basic descriptors of the time series: the type of variable, themeasuring units, the time interval, the acquisition type, etc. In order to be able tointerface with HEC-DSS and therefore with any of the HEC models, thiscomponent also contains a table storing the HEC-DSS descriptors that are neededto write into the HEC-DSS system. These three tables have associations betweenthem and with relevant spatial features with ownership on the time series records.Figure 3.22 illustrates the conceptual design of this component.60
