allows. Thus, consideration of more complex river geomorphology issues mayrequire the integration of a different and more objective-specific model.5.10 FOLLOW-ON RESEARCHGiven the strong dependency of floodplain modeling and damageassessments on hydrologic engineering simulations, an integration scheme hasbeen devised as a step forward in supporting additional components for floodimpact analysis. Thus, besides the accomplished Hydrologic and Hydraulicmodeling linkage, flood impact analysis components may now be implemented asan extension of the herein developed spatial framework. So the implementation ofthis spatially integrated hydrologic information system might be further expandedwith flood information and impact analysis modules. This added functionalitymay assist in flood mitigation planning, and floodplain management by readilyupdating and evaluating new basin and floodplain scenarios.NEXRAD datasets are being constantly updated and served in newformats over the internet (like the recently developed NEXRAD viewer andexporter for the NCDC radar archive). New radar precipitation formats need to beincluded as part of the Map2Map integration by developing computer codecapable of ingesting the plethora of radar information publicly available. An investigation on the potential scalable performance constraints asbigger watersheds or more detail input datasets are used for Map2Mapimplementations represents an interesting research topic. Scalable performanceconstraints due to watershed size and/or datasets’ resolution may expose practicalimplementation limits on the time and space scales used to define a Map2Map200
