epresented by the 2400 hour of the previous day and for Windows it isrepresented by the 12:00:00 A.M. time stamp of the next day without showing thetime stamp (the midnight abbreviation). The aforementioned midnight dualitybetween HEC-DSS and the Windows date notation is a very critical point in termsof data conversion between the two systems. In particular, the programmaticaspects of the midnight duality become quite crucial to ensure the correct transferof time series records between HEC-DSS and GIS. Figure 4.20 illustrates theschematic of the midnight duality.Figure 4.20 The Midnight DualityFigure 4.20 shows the Windows date notation above the time line for threemidnight points at the beginning of July. The Windows notation for midnightcorresponds to the 12:00:00 A.M. time stamp of the next day using the midnightabbreviation. The HEC-DSS date notation is shown below the time line. ForHEC-DSS the midnight point is label as the 2400 hours of the ending day. Careand consideration for this so called midnight duality was fundamental to achieve asuccessful framework for transferring time series data and to achieve the intendedintegration. In other words, format conversion between the two systems was124
