HEC-RAS, however, contains an option thatallows its output to migrate to a geographic information system (GIS). By meansof this option, HEC-RAS exports hydraulic information to GIS (water surfaceelevations, velocities, and so on) having a geometric character. The export to GISoption generates the SDF file, Spatial Data File, which can then be ingested inGIS as described in appendix B of the HEC-RAS User’s Manual (USACE,2002b).151
