channel (the hydraulic representation) are also related to HydroJunction points onthe Arc Hydro stream network.Through the permanent HydroJunction relationship in Arc Hydro(HydroJunctionHasCrossSection), the next downstream CrossSection from agiven SchemaNode can be located. Therefore, each runoff hydrograph can bematched to the cross section closest (downstream) to the hydrologic node wherethat streamflow addition occurs in the network. The HydroJunctionHasCrossSection relationship class is used to locate thecross section receiving a hydrograph source and to extract the RASCode of thecross section. The RASCode is defined as the concatenation of the StreamID,ReachID, and Station, e.g., RASCode = Rosillo,Upper,55649.9.4.1.9.4 Generating the Flow File for HEC-RASEntry points of external source runoff hydrographs from tributarysubbasins are defined in HEC-RAS by cross sections. For the purpose of anautomated scheme, the entering hydrographs must be stored in HEC-DSS and fedinto HEC-RAS. An HEC-DSS data connection must be established for all theflow change point locations represented by receiving cross sections. The Flow fileis in charge of establishing connections between HEC-RAS cross-sectionlocations and pathnames contained in the HEC-DSS file. By establishing theconnection, flow data is extracted for HEC-RAS and from the hydrographs ateach of the locations being read from DSS. This implies that the Flow file needsto be re-written at run time to establish the connection between an HEC-RAScross section and a particular pathname in the DSS file feeding flow series.141
