A folder location is also provided to the application to identify the targetfolder location in which the precipitation ASCII data files are located. Theapplication then matches available cells/pixels with NEXRAD polygon features inthe Arc Hydro geodatabase, and imports the time series of rainfall into standardArc Hydro TimeSeries tables (e.g., TimeSeries and TSType) and an additionaltable (DSSTSType) for storing HEC-DSS descriptors associated with the ArcHydro descriptors. All the three tables (TimeSeries, TSType, and DSSTSType)must already exist in the geodatabase (as part of the schema design); along withall the fields associated with these tables in the Arc Hydro definition and in theHEC-DSS time series data system. After implementing the tool, the TimeSeries table is populated in suchfashion that the FeatureID for each timestamp value is populated with the PixelIDof the NEXRAD cell it belongs to. Figure 4.3 illustrates the 15 NEXRAD cellscovering the Rosillo Creek and a section of the TimeSeries table showing the firsttime stamp precipitation values associated with each NEXRAD cell by means ofthe FeatureID (also shown as a backdrop is the watershed segmentation of RosilloCreek).73
