Taylor, Mr. Drayton, Mr. Berresford,Mr. Wainwright, Mr. Glover, Mr. Middleton, Mr. Moultrie.Then the House according to the order of this Morning proceeded totake into Consideration The Report made this Morning & his ExcellencysMessage of the 29th of Last Month, relating to the Constructing of Barracksfor the Accommodation of the Officers &ca.And the said Report & Message being Severally read a Second time.Resolved upon the Question that this House will grant his Majesty a sumNot Exceeding £3750 to defray the Expence of Constructing a Row of Barracksat One End of the new Barracks Lately Erected near the old FreeSchool House for the Accomodation of the Subaltern officers belonging tothe Forces that Shall be Quarter’d in the said new Barracks.Ordered that an Answer be prepared to be sent to his Excellency’s Message.And then the House adjourned till Tomorrow Morning Ten of the Clock.Friday the 10th of February 1758.The Journal of Yesterdays Proceedings was read.According to Order the following Answer was drawn to his ExcellencysMessage.May it please your Excellency,This House hath Considered your Message deliver’d the 24th Ultimatewith a plan of Barracks calculated to Lodge forty Officers, & an Estimate ofthe Expence thereof, and being Of Opinion that a Row of Barracks at oneEnd of the Barracks Lately Constructed near the old Free school House, willbe Sufficient to Lodge the Subaltern officers of Such of the Forces as maybe Quarter’d there, we have resolv’d to Grant his Majesty a Sum not Exceeding£3750, to defray the Expence of Constructing a Row of Barracks at oneEnd of the said new Barracks.Ordered That the said Answer be presented to the Governor by Mr.Lowndes & Mr. Glover, and that they do humbly desire his Excellency’s leaveto this House to adjourn till Monday the 27th Instant.A Memorial of John Murray Esqr., Acting Secretary of this Province, waspresented to the House and read Setting Forth as Viz.That by an Act passed in the Year 1751 The Legislature provided the sumof £25000, to be Employed in Building a Stadthouse for holding and Accommodatingthe General Assemblys, The Courts of Justices, the Secretarys officeand the Provincial Arms.That the said Building is partly finish’d and it having been intimatedto the Memorialist by the Commissioners that the Apartments intended forthe Secretarys Office were prepared in the best manner which the Funds
