316 COMMONS JOURNAL, JANUARY 15, 1759–FEBRUARY 16, 1759appeared to them, to the House; And he read the Report in his place, andafterward delivered it in at the Clerk’s Table, where the Same was read andis as follows, Vizt.That Your Committee have considered the said Petition and Recommendthat a Ferry may be granted to the said John Dargon, from the NorthSide to the South Side of Santee River and that a Bill may be brought in forthat Purpose.Ordered that the Consideration of the said Report be postponed.The House proceeded (according to Order) to give the “Bill for themore effectual Relief of Insolvent Debtors and for that purpose putting inforce and effectually carrying into Execution in this Province, such part ofan Act made in the Parliament of Great Britain in the Second Year of Hispresent Majesty’s Reign Intitled ‘An Act for the Relief of Debtors with Respectto the Imprisonment of their Persons as is herein after mentioned,’ andto repeal the several Acts of Assembly now in force in this Province for theRelief of Insolvent Debtors,” a Second Reading;And the House having made some Progress therein,Ordered that the further Consideration of the Bill be Post-poned tillthis Afternoon.A Message from The Council.Mr. Speaker,The Council have agreed to the Bill, Intitled “An Act for Taxing TransientPersons,” without any Amendment.The Council have read the Memorial of the Commissioners for buildingthe Church and Parsonage of the Parish of Saint Michael, addressed tothe Governor, Council and Assembly.And then the Messenger withdrew.Ordered that the Bill Intitled “An Act for Taxing Transient Persons” beEngrossed.Then the House adjourned till this Afternoon four of the Clock.P.M.The House resumed the Postponed Consideration of the “Bill for themore Effectual Relief of Insolvent Debtors and for that purpose putting inforce and effectually carrying into Execution in this Province, such part ofan Act made in the Parliament of Great Britain in the second Year of hispresent Majesty’s Reign, Intitled ‘An Act for the Relief of Debtors with respectto the Imprisonment of their Persons’ as is herein after mentioned andto repeal the several Acts of Assembly now in force in this Province for theRelief of Insolvent Debtors.”
