P.M.The following Gentlemen met, vizt., Mr. Graeme, Mr. Murray, Mr.Trapier, Mr. Lowndes, Mr. Gadsden, Mr. Waties, Mr. Manigault, and the saidGentlemen made Choice of Mr. Graeme to be their Chairman, and he adjournedthe House till Monday Morning Ten of the Clock.Monday the 29th Day of January 1759.The following Gentlemen met, Vizt., Mr. Mazyck, Mr. Cantey, Mr. ThomasWaties, Mr. John Waties, Mr. Gadsden, Mr. Graeme, Mr. Trapier, and thesaid Gentlemen made Choice of Mr. Gadsden to be their Chairman, and headjourned the House till to morrow morning Ten of the Clock.Tuesday the 30th Day of January 1759.The Journal of last Friday’s Proceedings was read.Mr. Guerard reported from the Committee appointed to audit theTreasurer’s Accounts, That the Committee had examined the Account ofMoneys advanced by the said Treasurer for the Charge of Carriage of Provisionsto the several Garrisons in the Out Settlements, and had directed himto report the same as it appeared to them, to the House, and he read theReport in his place, and afterward delivered it in at the Clerk’s Table, wherethe same was read, and is as follows, Vizt.That in Obedience to the Order of the House, they have examined theTreasurer’s Account for Money advanced for the Charge of Carriage of Provisionsto the Garrisons in the Out Settlements, & Compared the same withthe Vouchers, by which it appears that he has paid from the 30th of April 1758to the 18th of January Instant the Sum of Four Thousand One hundred andSixty One Pounds two Shillings and five Pence, for Carriage of Provisions toFort Prince George and Fort Loudoun.A Petition of the Commissioners of the Parish of St. Mark was presentedto the House and read Setting forth, That the Petitioners with the Consentof the Major Part of the Inhabitants of the said Parish on Santee and BlackRivers and Parts Adjacent, have appointed the Place for the Church nearSantee River on a Creek called half way Swamp in the said Parish, and proceededon Easter Monday last to the Choice of Vestry men, Church Wardens&ca. and in all Respects had Regard to the Laws in such Case made & provided,but by Reason of the Thinness of Inhabitants (that are Contiguous)
