FEBRUARY 9, 1759315four Years standing; And instead of those Words to add the following, to wit, any thingin the Act of Assembly of this Province, Intitled “An Act for settling the Titles of theInhabitants of this Province to their Possessions in their Estates within the same andfor Limitations of Actions and for avoiding Suits in Law,” Passed December the 12th1712, Contained to the Contrary in any wise notwithstanding;And the Amendment being read a Second Time was agreed to by theHouse, to be made Part of the Bill, and other Amendments were made bythe House to the Bill.And the Bill being read a Second time throughout,Resolved (upon the Question) that the Bill be sent to His Majesty’sCouncil.Ordered that Mr. Murray and Mr. Leigh do carry the Bill to the Council.Resolved that this House will to Morrow Morning read the “Bill to restrainand prevent the too frequent Sales of Goods, Wares and Merchandizeby Public Auction or Outcry in Charles Town and for the better Regulationof such Sales,” a Second Time.Resolved that this House will to Morrow Morning Read the “Bill for themore effectual Relief of Insolvent Debtors and for that purpose putting inforce and effectually carrying into Execution in this Province such part ofan Act made in the Parliament of Great Britain in the Second Year of hispresent Majesty’s Reign, Intitled ‘an Act for the Relief of Debtors with Respectto the Imprisonment of their Persons’ as is herein after mentioned, andto repeal the several Acts of Assembly now in force in this Province for theRelief of Insolvent Debtors,” a Second Time.And then the House adjourned till to Morrow Morning Ten of the Clock.Friday the 9th Day of February 1759.The Journal of Yesterday’s Proceedings was read.The House proceeded (according to Order) to give the “Bill to restrainand prevent the too frequent Sales of Goods, Wares and Merchandize byPublic Auction or Out Cry in Charles Town and for the better Regulationof such Sales,” a Second Reading.And the Bill was read a Second Time with Blanks which were filled upand several Amendments were made by the House to the Bill.Ordered That Mr. Trapier & Mr. Stoutenburgh do Carry the Bill to theCouncil.Colonel Richardson (according to Order) Reported from the Committeeto whom the Petition of John Dargon and the Inhabitants of Wateree,Waxsaws and Yadkin Settlements was referred, That they had examined thematter of the said Petition, and had directed him to Report the same as it
