MARCH 15, 1759343the Committee to whom the Accounts of the Creditors of the Public werereferred, on the 122d and 180th Paragraphs of their Report;And the said Paragraphs were severally read a Second Time.Ordered that the Commissary General do advertise under the WatchHouse and Vendue House a List or Lists (as near as he can judge) of theArticles of Goods he shall at any time hereafter be ordered to collect andpurchase on Account of the Public, immediately after the Time he receivessuch Orders, provided that the Goods wanted exceed the Sum of £100 Currencyin Value; That he give the longest Notice for Proposals to be made forsupplying the same; And that he shall hereafter give the Preference to suchPersons only, who offer to supply the Public at the lowest Prices, and that theCommissary shall keep a Copy of such Advertisements with the Proposalsgiven in, to be produced to any Committee of this House hereafter to beappointed to Audit the Accounts of the Creditors of the Public.Ordered that the Commissary General be served with a Copy of the saidOrder.Ordered that a Message be prepared to be presented to the Governor,humbly to desire that His Excellency will please to order the several Personsto be paid their respective Sum or Sums of Money due to them for Supplysto the South Carolina Regiment out of the Fund appropriated for that Service,and that £66 for Entertaining Indians by Order of Collonel Bird be paidout of the Moneys granted for that Service.Mr. Pringle reported from the Committee to whom the Petition of theInhabitants of the Parish of St. James Santee was referred, that the Committeehad considered the matter of the said Petition, and had directed him toreport the same, as it appeared to them, to the House, and he read the Reportin his place, and afterward delivered it in at the Clerk’s Table, wherethe same was read and is as follows, (Vizt.)That they have examined and Considered the said Petition and do recommendthat an Amendment may be added to the present Patrol Law, agreeableto the Prayer of the said Petition.Resolved that the said Report be taken into Consideration at the thirdReading of the “Bill to revive and Continue several Acts and Clauses of Actsof the General Assembly of this Province; and for Amending Some of the saidActs in the manner therein mentioned.”Then the House proceeded to give the “Bill for enlarging the Qualificationsof the Electors as well as the Persons to be Elected to serve as Membersof the General Assembly of this Province,” a Second Reading.A Motion was made and the Question being put that the Qualificationof the Elector be, instead of Ten Shillings Proclamation Money, four ShillingsProclamation Money.
