MAY 12, 1758199cannot resume the Consideration thereof during the Present Session of theGeneral Assembly.And then the House adjourned till Tomorrow Morning Nine of theClock.Friday the 12th day of May 1758.The Journal of Yesterdays Proceedings was read.Ordered That the Two Addresses of Yesterday to the Governor be presentedto his Excellency by Mr. Roper.Ordered that Mr. Gadsden do Carry the Message Containing Amendmentsto the “Bill vesting the Ferry over Ashley River &ct.” to the Council. 19Order’d That Leave be given to bring in an Ordinance for appointinga Country Waiter for the Port of Charles Town. And that Mr. Manigault &Mr. Mazyck do prepare & bring in the Same.Then the House proceeded to read the “Bill for raising & granting toHis Majesty the Sum of £166,055:9:7 1 /4 & applying £8069:3:6 (being the Surplusof Taxes & Ballance of a Fund in the Public Treasury) making together£174,124:13:1 1 /4 to defray the Charges of this Government from the 25th dayof March 1757 to the 24th day of March 1758, And for other Services thereinmentioned” a Third time.And the Schedule to be Annexed to the Said Bill was read a third Time.Then two Accounts of Ensign John Bogges which had been return’d tohim to be attested, one Amounting to £81:7:6 and the other to £208:1:6 beingfor Expresses & for Rum & Sugar given in Presents to the Indians, werepresented to the House & Severally read.Resolved that Sixty Seven Pounds 10s for the Expresses mention’d in thefirst of the Said Accounts be Provided for & no more, as the Residue of theSaid Account is for Rum & Sugar given in presents to The Indians.Resolved (upon the Question) That the Account amounting to £208:1:6being for Rum & Sugar given to the Indians be rejected.Ordered that the said £67:10 be inserted in the said Schedule.And the same was inserted in the Schedule Accordingly.And Several Other Amendments were made by the House to the SaidSchedule.And the Said Schedule is as followeth, Vizt.The Schedule of the Charges of this Government from the Twenty fifth day of Marchin the Year of our Lord, One Thousand Seven hundred and Fifty Seven inclusive to the19According to the Upper House Journal for May 13, the Upper House read this bill a third timeand resolved unanimously to reject it.
