APRIL 4, 1759381Great Britain, was referred, that they had examined the said Account, andhad directed him to report the same, as it appeared to them, to the House,and he read the Report in his place and afterward delivered it in at theClerk’s Table, where the same was read and is as follows (Vizt.)That they have examined the Account of Disbursements of JamesWright Esqr., Agent for this Province in Great Britain, and Compared thesame with the Accounts of former Agents.That the Charges in the said Account appear to the Committee to be usualand reasonable; And that the largeness of the said Account is owing to the Varietyof Matters which the said Agent was directed by the House to sollicit.The Committee are therefore of Opinion that the Sum of £170:10:6 Sterling,amounting to £1193:13:6 Currency ought to be provided for the said Agent.The said Report being read a Second time,Resolved that the House do agree with the Committee in the said Report.Resolved that the Sum of £1193:13:6 be inserted in the Schedule to be annexedto the Tax Bill for defraying the Charges of this Government to the 31stof December 1758 Inclusive, for James Wright Esqr., Agent in Great Britain.The House proceeded to give the Tax Bill a third Reading, and on Readingthe Schedule to be annexed to the said Bill, a third time,Resolved that the Sum of £77:5:2 1 /2 be inserted in the said Schedule forProvisions for a Gunner and two Quarter Gunners at Fort Johnson, at theRate of £25 per Annum Each.Resolved that the Sum of £710:10 be inserted in the said Schedule forAdditional Pay to 35 Subaltern Officers of the Highland Battallion, 58 Daysat 1/ Sterling per Day from the 25th of March to the 21st of May 1758.And the Schedule was read a third time throughout and several Amendmentswere made by the House thereto.Which Schedule is as follows (Vizt.)A Schedule of the Charges of this Government from the 25th Day ofMarch 1758 to the 31st Day of December 1758 Inclusive. 38Allowances to Public Officers.To His Excellency the Governor £ 2704:02:02To The Clerk of the Council £ 231:15:07[To] The Master in Chancery £ 154:10:0538Pursuant to a committee report of April 27, 1758, the Commons House resolved to convert itsannual tax laws to the New Style calendar. Accordingly, the schedule approved in 1759 covered only thelast nine months of the previous calendar year.
