DECEMBER 8, 175753And then the House adjourned till to morrow Morning Ten of the Clock.Thursday the 8th of December 1757.The Journal of Yesterdays Proceedings was read.According to order the following Message was drawn, Viz.May it Please your Excellency,We have maturely Considered the several Articles recommended to usin your Message of the 6th Instant concerning the Accomodation of theTroops.And, with respect to the First, That it is requisite Provision Should bemade for defraying the Charge of Lodging all the Officers according to theirRanks; we humbly beg Leave to acquaint Your Excellency that we cannotagree to make any such Provision.We have resolv’d to provide for defraying the Expence of two Blankettsfor each Bed in the Barracks. And that an addition of one Cord of Woodper Week be allowed to each Company till the first of April next. But we cannot agree to provide for Small Beer or Rum for them.And being of Opinion that the whole allowance of Wood, Candles &Vinegar already agreed to be made will be Sufficient also for the Hospitals& Guard Rooms; we humbly desire that your Excellency will be pleased toOrder the Commissary to furnish the Hospitals & Guard Rooms, with thoseArticl[e]s, out of the said Allowance.And as the Purchasing of the Wood at the best Hand will be a greatSaving of the Public Money, we must further humbly intreat that Your Excellencywill Please to order the Commissary to Contract for that Article withPersons who cut Wood in the Country as the most probable means of Procuringthe same upon the Easiest Terms.And we humbly beg Leave to conclude with Assuring your Excellencythat the Provision which we have resolv’d to make upon this Occasion, is, inthe Opinion of this House, as Ample as the Circumstances of our Constituentscan afford, & we hope is Correspondent with our duty to the Crown &the Grateful Sense which we have of His Majestys Great Goodness to us.Order’d, That Mr. Drayton & Mr. Manigault do wait upon his Excellencywith the Message.And then the House adjourned till Three of the Clock.P.M.A Message from the Council by Mr. Bassnett.Mr. Speaker,
