MARCH 20, 1759349present Majesty’s Reign, Intitled ‘An Act for the Relief of Debtors with Respectto the Imprisonment of their Persons,’ as is herein after mentioned,and to repeal the several Acts of the Assembly now of force in this Provincefor the Relief of Insolvent Debtors”;And the Bill being read a third Time throughout,Resolved that the Bill do pass, and that the Title be “An Act for the moreEffectual Relief of Insolvent Debtors, and for that Purpose putting in forceand effectually carrying into Execution in this Province such Part of An Actmade in the Parliament of Great Britain in the Second Year of his presentMajesty’s Reign Intitled ‘An Act for the Relief of Debtors with respect to theImprisonment of their Persons,’ as is herein after mentioned and to repealthe several Acts of the Assembly in this Province for the Relief of InsolventDebtors.”Ordered that Mr. Lowndes and Mr. Blake do carry the Bill to the Counciland desire their Concurrence.A Message from the Council by Mr. Simpson,Mr. Speaker,The Council have agreed to the “Bill for Allowing of Discounts and forrepealing all former Acts and Paragraphs of Acts of the General Assemblyof this Province relating to Discounts,” and have made the Amendment inthe Title thereof which was agreed to by the House.The Council have also agreed to the “Bill to impower the Commissionersfor building a Church and Parsonage House in the Parish of SaintMichael Charles Town, to purchase a Lot of Land and House for a Parsonagefor the said Parish; And to dispose of and Convey in Fee Simple, suchPews, as shall be built in the said Church, and for repealing the several Paragraphsof the Act of the General Assembly of this Province for dividing theParish of Saint Philip, and for Erecting the said Parish of Saint Michael anda Parsonage for the Same,” without any Amendment.The Council have likewise agreed to the “Bill to supply the Defects inEvidence where the Original Wills cannot be produced; And to make theProceedings upon Questions arising upon such Wills more Easy and Effectual,”without any Amendment.And then the Messenger withdrew.Ordered that the said Bills be Engrossed.Mr. Guerard reported from the Committee, who were appointed toAudit the Public Treasurer’s Accounts, that they had examined theTreasurer’s Books and had directed him to report the State of the said Accountsas they appeared to them, to the House, and he read the Report inhis place and afterward delivered it in at the Clerk’s Table, where the samewas read and is as follows (Vizt.)
