400 COMMONS JOURNAL, MARCH 5, 1759–APRIL 7, 1759The Gentlemen to whom the Examination of the two Ingrossed Billsby the Originals were referred, Reported that the said Bills are trulyingrossed, and they delivered them in at the Table.Ordered that Mr. Lynch and Mr. Gadsden do examine the ingrossed Billintitled “An Act for allowing a further Time to the Assessors and Collectorsfor the Parishes of Saint Philip and Saint Michael for carrying into ExecutionAn Act of the General Assembly of this Province intitled ‘An Act for raisingand granting to His Majesty the Sum of £166438:14:7 1 /4 and for applying£8069:3:6, being the Surplus of Taxes and Ballance of a Fund in the PublicTreasury, making together £174507:18:1 1 /2, to defray the Charges of this Governmentfrom the 25th of March 1757 to the 24th of March 1758, and for otherServices therein mentioned,’” by the Original, to see if the same is trulyingrossed.Mr. Lynch reported that they had examined the Bill accordingly, andthat the same is truly ingrossed, and then he delivered it in at the Table.Ordered that the Commissary General do cause the Guard House tobe new Covered and repaired, and that he be served with a Copy of the saidOrder.Ordered that a Message be prepared to be presented to the Governorin Answer to His Excellency’s Message relating to the Construction of a Magazine,And a Message was drawn accordingly, and is as follows, Vizt.May it please Your Excellency,In Answer to Your Message relating to the Construction of a Magazine,We beg Leave to acquaint Your Excellency that upon Considering the samea Bill was ordered to be brought in, agreeable to Your Excellency’s Recommendation,but as the necessary Business of the Members who reside in theCountry now calls for their Attendance, and as the present Meeting has beenlong and close, the House have resolved to receive the said Bill at their nextSitting.Ordered that the Message be ingrossed.Ordered that Mr. Lynch and Mr. Gadsden do attend the Governor withthe said Message, and the ingrossed Message of the 4th Instant, in Answerto One from His Excellency relating to the Militia.Mr. Izard reported from the Committee to whom the Powder-Receiver’sAccounts were referred, that they had examined the said Accounts, and haddirected him to report the same, as it appeared to them, to the House; Andhe read the Report in his Place, and afterward delivered it in at the Clerk’sTable, where the same was read and is as follows, Vizt.That they had examined the Powder Receiver’s Books and Receipts, andfind that there is now in the Public Magazine 11380 lb.
