JUNE 11, 1760623Motte Esqr. by Order of His Excellency Governor Lyttelton, on which therewas a Balance of £58 in Mr. Nutt’s hands.Receipt from Lieutenant Colonel Moses Thompson of ColonelChevillette’s Batallion to Joseph Nutt for the Sum of £2574 Part of the said£7000.Receipt from Major Abraham Buckhells of Colonel Powell’s Batallionto the said Joseph Nutt for £1859 part of the said £7000.Receipt from Colonel Richard Richardson to the said Joseph Nutt forthe Sum of £2509 part of the said £7000.Ordered, That the said Papers be referred to the Consideration of theCommittee who were appointed to inquire into the Conduct of Mr. JosephNutt during the Time he acted as Commissary on the late Expedition againstthe Cherokees.Then (it being Twelve of the Clock) Mr. Speaker, with the House, wentup to attend the Lieutenant Governor in the Council Chamber.And being returned,Mr. Speaker reported, that the House had attended the LieutenantGovernor in the Council Chamber where his Honour had been pleased togive his Assent to,“An Act to prevent the exportation of Grain and other Provisions, andArms, Ammunition, Strouds, Duffils and Plains from the Province of SouthCarolina for the Term therein mentioned.”And then the House adjourned till to-morrow Morning Nine of theClock.Wednesday the 11th Day of June 1760.Read the Journals of Yesterday’s Proceedings.Ordered, That the “Act to prevent the exportation of Grain and otherProvisions, and Arms, Ammunition, Strouds, Duffils and Plains from theProvince of South-Carolina for the Term therein mentioned,” be printed inthe Gazette.A Message from the Council by Mr. Bassnett.Mr. Speaker and Gentlemen,The Words which you allude to in your Message of the 5th Instant justnow received, were, in the hurry of other Business, added to the Bill; butwithout any design to interrupt the accustomed practice of sending a Messageto your House, when any Addition is proposed upon the reading of aBill; and therefore we have removed the Cause which gave rise to your Enquiry;We shall at all times endeavour on our parts to preserve our own
