MARCH 20, 1759353Your Committee with a Committee of the Council have burnt 31 Certificatesamounting to £1500 issued for building Saint Michael’s Church.Your Committee find by the Report of the last Committee that there wasa Ballance of £737:10 Outstanding of the £63000 Orders issued in the Year1742, for the Assistance of Georgia & Defence of this Province, of which theTreasurer produced £265; which is burnt by your Committee and a Committeeof the Council, which being Substracted leaves a Ballance of £472:10 yetto be brought into the Treasury to be sunk.Your Committee also find that by the said Report there was £117:10 ofthe Fortification Orders issued in 1745, not then brought into the Treasuryof which the Treasurer produced 1 Order of £10 which Your Committee anda Committee of the Council have burnt, so there is £107:10 of said Orders yetto be brought in to be exchanged and sunk.Your Committee also find by the said Report that there was a Ballanceof £266:7:6 of the old Lawful Currency issued in 1731, of which the Treasurerproduced £6:10 which is burnt by your Committee and a Committee of theCouncil, which being deducted leaves a Ballance of £259:17:6, yet to bebrought into the Treasury to be Exchanged and sunk.Your Committee with a Committee of the Council have burnt the Sumof £2064:12:6 of torn and obliterated Currency, which together with the Sumof £7925:12:6 burnt by former Committees amounts to £9990:5 which beingdeducted from the Sum of £20000, provided for exchanging the aforesaidCurrency, leaves a Ballance of £10009:15 in the Treasury for said Purpose.Your Committee with a Committee of the Council have burnt £8400 ofthe £33600 Orders issued in 1755 for the defending His Majesty’s Rights & Dominionsin North America.Your Committee with a Committee of the Council have burnt £30 of theold Appropriation Orders issued in 1731, which is to be reimbursed the Treasurer,as no Fund is appropriated for that purpose.Your Committee with a Committee of the Council have also burnt £5000of the Certificates issued in the Year 1756 for the Fortifications of CharlesTown.Your Committee with a Committee of the Council have burnt £2500 ofthe Certificates issued for Building the State House.That there is in the Treasury £468:13:6 arising by Fines and Forfeitures.Then the House proceeded to give the “Bill for preventing as much asmay be the spreading of malignant and contagious Distempers in this Province,and for repealing the former Acts & Paragraphs of Acts heretoforemade for that Purpose” a third Reading. And having made some Progresstherein,Ordered That the further Consideration thereof be postponed.
