Study of the structure and style of selected<br />
novels from the eighteenth to the twentieth<br />
centuries. Includes British, American, and<br />
Continental authors. Additional emphasis<br />
placed on historical changes in this form<br />
plus the techniques and purposes of the<br />
author. Prerequisites: EN 101 and EN 102.<br />

This course introduces students to the<br />
varied literatures of Latin America.<br />
Students will study forms of literature<br />
such as short stories, poetry, drama, and<br />
novels by a wide array of Latin American<br />
authors. Emphasis will be placed on<br />
the cultural and political environments<br />
in which the texts were written.<br />

To increase appreciation of the<br />
poem, historical, intellectual, and<br />

A study of recent works of fction.<br />

basic comprehension skills (reading,<br />
writing, speaking, and listening) are all<br />
emphasized, class time is used primarily to<br />
practice listening to and speaking French.<br />
Profciency is achieved in the present and<br />
future tenses and in the use of articles<br />
and everyday vocabulary. An awareness<br />
of contemporary Francophone cultures is<br />

A continuation of FR 101. Emphasizes<br />
all four basic comprehension skills, the<br />
passe compose and imperfect, the use of<br />
direct and indirect pronouns, frequently<br />
used vocabulary, and contemporary<br />
Francophone civilization. Class time is<br />
spent primarily practicing, listening to,<br />
and speaking French. Prerequisite: FR<br />

the four basic comprehension skills and<br />
focuses on the following areas: refexives,<br />
the present subjunctive, and Francophone<br />
