A minimum of 21 semester hours<br />

3. Program requirements: 39 semester<br />

hours<br />

A minimum of 39 semester hours are<br />

considered free electives and may be<br />

earned in any feld(s) of study at the<br />

college.<br />

4. Physical education requirement—one<br />

3-semester-hour health or physical<br />

education course or two courses of any<br />

combination of HE or PE.<br />

5. Minimum academic average: a<br />

cumulative grade point average of 2.0<br />

or better<br />

Designed for occupationally oriented<br />

curricula. A student entering this<br />

program is not planning to transfer into a<br />

baccalaureate program but is preparing to<br />

enter a career feld on completion of the<br />

degree.<br />

grade point average of 2.0 or better.<br />

CertifiCAte ProGrAms<br />

Designed for occupationally oriented<br />

curricula. Completion of certifcate<br />

programs typicially leads directly to<br />

employment.<br />

transfer opportunities<br />

<strong>Columbia</strong>-<strong>Greene</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />

students who want to further their<br />

education have almost limitless transfer<br />

options. Graduates of C-<strong>GCC</strong> are accepted<br />

at both public and private four-year<br />

colleges and universities throughout New<br />

York State and nationwide. Students can<br />

also transfer into specialized technical and<br />

allied health programs at other two-year<br />

colleges.<br />

Many transfer agreements exist with fouryear<br />

colleges.<br />

1. Students anticipating transfer should<br />

pursue a program compatible with the<br />

requirements of the transfer college or<br />

institution.<br />

2. To guarantee maximum transferability<br />

of courses, students should be<br />

proactive in researching transfer<br />

opportunities and stay current of any<br />

changes at the institutions to which<br />

they plan to transfer.<br />

3. Assistance in preparing for transfer<br />

is available in the Offce of Advising,<br />

Career Counseling & Transfer Services<br />

and from academic advisors.<br />

Students transferring to a SUNY<br />

college or university should complete<br />

a minimum of one course in 7 of<br />

the 10 Knowledge and Skill areas<br />

in the SUNY General Education<br />

requirements. See page 65 for the<br />

listing.
