Ps 104—Contemporary Global issues<br />
Wars, revolutions, human rights,<br />
terrorism, natural and man-made disasters,<br />
international trade and economic issues<br />
impact the entire global community. This<br />
course is designed to acquaint the student<br />
with the tools and methods to analyze<br />
the historical, political, and industrial<br />
precursors leading up to these events. With<br />
this practical and theoretical foundation,<br />
students will be able to understand and<br />
engage in informed discussions about<br />
the important global issues in the coming<br />
decades. (3 semester hours) Spring<br />
Ps 130—Contemporary Constitutional<br />
issues<br />
Provides an introduction to constitutional<br />
law and public policy. Seminars<br />
emphasize effective reasoning on a range<br />
of contemporary issues, determining each<br />
credit on the basis of relevance to presentday<br />
concerns of American citizens. NOTE:<br />
Active participation in class discussions is<br />
required. (3 semester hours) Fall<br />

PY 101—General Psychology<br />
An overview of the scientifc discipline<br />
of psychology, including some of the<br />
methods and basic concepts of the feld<br />
and major aspects of human behavior,<br />
such as emotion, learning, conditioning,<br />
motivation, personality, and development.<br />

PY 104—Psychology for Business<br />
Survey of effective interpersonal and<br />
leadership behaviors that allow for team<br />
and human development. Topics include<br />
work motivation, stress management,<br />
communication strategies, psychological<br />

testing, coping with change, and personal<br />
and organizational improvement. (3<br />
semester hours) Fall/Spring<br />
PY 201—Lifespan development<br />
A survey of current theory on development<br />
from conception to death. Topics include<br />
physical growth and maturation, cognitive<br />
and personality development, concerns<br />
of adolescence and young adulthood, and<br />
the special challenges of middle and late<br />
adulthood in our society. Prerequisite: PY<br />
101. (3 semester hours) Fall<br />
PY 203—social Psychology<br />
Will focus on how individuals infuence<br />
and relate to one another. Attention will<br />
be given to dynamics of interpersonal<br />
relationships, their effect on group<br />
processes, and personal adjustment. Topics<br />
include conformity, obedience, aggression,<br />
altruism, attraction, and persuasion.<br />

PY 205—Child and Adolescence<br />
Psychology<br />
An introduction to physical, cognitive, and<br />
socio-emotional development occurring<br />
from conception through adolescence.<br />
Topics include personality and identity,<br />
moral and social development, language<br />
development, changes in cognition, and<br />
intelligence. Prerequisite: PY 101. (3<br />
semester hours) Fall/Spring<br />
PY 208—Psychology of Women<br />
An introduction in the feld of the<br />
psychology of women. This course serves<br />
a dual purpose: 1) the deconstruction of<br />
traditional psychological knowledge of<br />
women and a reconstruction of a more<br />
comprehensive psychology of women, and<br />
2) the investigation of psychological and<br />
sociological infuences on the developing<br />
psyche and behavior patterns of the female<br />
with a focus on the interaction of the<br />
female with her environment. Prerequisite:<br />
