Automotive technology<br />
Automotive Technology, with its highly<br />
trained and certifed professional faculty,<br />
is dedicated to instructing students in<br />
the operation, diagnosis and repair of<br />
the complex systems of the modern<br />
automobile.<br />

Automotive Technology offers one<br />
certifcate and two degree options<br />
designed to prepare the student for a<br />
career in this feld. Within the degree<br />
options the student may pursue an<br />
Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.)<br />
or an Associate in Occupational Studies<br />
(A.O.S.) degree.<br />
The student may also choose a program<br />
that is manufacturer specifc. C-<strong>GCC</strong> is<br />
currently affliated with Toyota Motor<br />
Sales and offers the Toyota Technical<br />
Education Network (T-TEN) program.<br />
This program is designed to provide<br />
specifc training on the Toyota/Lexus<br />
product.<br />
C-<strong>GCC</strong> also offers a college-based<br />
program. This general program provides<br />
training in the repair of many different<br />
vehicles and systems which leads to<br />
employment at new car dealerships,<br />
independent repair facilities, and feet<br />
repair operations.<br />
NOTE: Students are required to attend an<br />
information session for acceptance into the<br />
Automotive program.<br />

NOTE: All students taking Automotive<br />
Technology courses (AUxxx) are required<br />
to attend mandatory orientation sessions<br />
held in August and January. Students<br />
will be given the date of the orientation<br />
session at the time of registration or they<br />
may contact the Automotive Technology<br />
Department by phone or email if it is not<br />
available at the time of registration.<br />
NOTE: Students wishing to pursue the<br />
Toyota option must complete special<br />
admission requirements.<br />
NOTE: All students attending automotive<br />
courses are required to have a basic set of<br />
hand tools. See the web site for a list of<br />
tools.<br />
Automotive Technology Requirements:<br />
A.A.S.<br />
This program prepares students for<br />
immediate employment upon graduation.<br />
1. Minimum requirements for admission<br />
into this program are 12th-grade<br />
reading (readiness to begin EN<br />
101-Composition). Elementary algebra<br />
skills are required.<br />
2. All students must complete the<br />
Automotive Cooperative Work Study<br />
Courses before graduation.<br />
3. Toyota-specifc students must obtain<br />
a 2.0 GPA, successfully complete a<br />
minimum of two A.S.E examinations,<br />
and obtain the Air Conditioning<br />
Refrigerant and Reclaiming License<br />
before receiving Toyota recognition<br />
and factory course credit.
