Degree and Certifcate requirements<br />
Responsibility for meeting the<br />
requirements for a degree or a certifcate<br />
rests with the student.<br />
Application for Graduation<br />
Students who are planning to graduate<br />
must apply for graduation and make an<br />
appointment for a graduation check before<br />
starting their last semester to ensure<br />
that their course selection meets degree<br />
requirements. To qualify for graduation,<br />
the student must be a current matriculated<br />
student.<br />
Graduation is based on the successful<br />
completion of all requirements as listed<br />
for the program in which the student is<br />
matriculated. Any change in meeting degree<br />
requirements must be approved by the Vice<br />
President and Dean of Academic Affairs<br />
before the student registers for the fnal<br />
semester. Any change in the recommended<br />
program for a curriculum needs the approval<br />
of the student’s academic advisor.<br />
To qualify for graduation, a student must<br />
have fulflled all college requirements and<br />
have achieved the following:<br />
1. Apply for graduation in the Offce of<br />
Records and Registration.<br />
2. Be a currently enrolled matriculated<br />
student or readmitted student for the<br />
purpose of graduation.<br />
3. Completion at <strong>Columbia</strong>-<strong>Greene</strong><br />
<strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> of at least 30<br />
semester hours of course work for a<br />
degree or 15 semester hours of course<br />
work for a certifcate.<br />
4. A 2.0 cumulative grade point average<br />
or better.<br />
5. Completion of a minimum of 60<br />
semester hours as required in a degree<br />
program or 30 semester hours as<br />
64<br />
required in a certifcate program.<br />
Physical education courses are not<br />
considered part of the minimum<br />
number of semester hours.<br />
6. Students who entered the college<br />
without a high school diploma or<br />
GED must apply to the New York<br />
State Education Department for the<br />
equivalency diploma concurrently<br />
with applying for the college degree.<br />
Forms may be obtained in the Offce of<br />
Records and Registration.<br />
7. Payment (or satisfactory adjustment)<br />
of all college fees and satisfaction of<br />
all other obligations. Matriculation is<br />
terminated on graduation. Students<br />
returning to continue in another degree<br />
or certifcate program must reapply<br />
to that new curriculum and satisfy the<br />
above requirements.<br />
Graduation with Honors or High<br />
Honors<br />
A student who attains a cumulative grade<br />
point average of 3.5 will graduate with<br />
honors. A student who attains a cumulative<br />
GPA of 3.75 will graduate with high<br />
honors.<br />
Degree and Certifcate Programs<br />
As part of the State University of New<br />
York, C-<strong>GCC</strong> is authorized to award<br />
four associate degrees and certifcates.<br />
Listed below are the institutional degree<br />
requirements on fle with the New York<br />
State Education Department and the State<br />
University of New York. All students<br />
must meet these degree requirements,<br />
which cannot be waived. Any additional<br />
requirements are noted at the beginning of<br />
each program/certifcate description.
