• Students who wish to re-admit<br />

to pursue additional course work<br />

requested/required by a bachelor’s<br />

level should obtain a letter (on college<br />

letterhead) from the bachelor’s level<br />

school indicating the required course<br />

work.<br />

A minimum of 30 additional semester<br />

hours must be completed for any<br />

additional degree to be awarded—that<br />

is, a total of at least 92 credits must be<br />

achieved for a second degree. A minimum<br />

of 15 additional semester hours must be<br />

completed for any additional certifcate<br />

to be awarded—that is, a total of at least<br />

45 credits must be achieved for a second<br />

certifcate.<br />

Admissions with Advanced<br />

standing<br />

Advanced standing will be awarded in the<br />

following hierarchy and sequence:<br />

a. transfer course work from other<br />

institutions of higher education<br />

b. credit from national exams (CLEP,<br />

DANTES)<br />

c. C-<strong>GCC</strong> challenge exams<br />

d. credit for life experience<br />

A student who has attended another<br />

college or post-secondary school may be<br />

admitted to <strong>Columbia</strong>-<strong>Greene</strong> <strong>Community</strong><br />

<strong>College</strong> with advanced standing. Up to<br />

half of the required credit hours in the<br />

C-<strong>GCC</strong> program can be earned at another<br />

college or through advanced placement;<br />

but to earn credit, courses completed<br />

elsewhere must fulfll the requirements<br />

of the C-<strong>GCC</strong> degree or certifcate<br />

program in which the student is enrolled.<br />

transfer Credit from Previous <strong>College</strong><br />

Work<br />

1. Degree candidates at <strong>Columbia</strong>-<strong>Greene</strong><br />

<strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> may receive<br />

credit for parallel courses completed at<br />

other accredited and degree-granting<br />

colleges and universities.<br />

2. Generally, only courses completed<br />

with a grade of C or better will<br />

be considered for transfer credit.<br />

However, transfer credit may be<br />

granted for up to 6 semester hours of<br />

C- or D’s provided that the grade point<br />

average of the evaluated transcript is at<br />

or above 2.0.<br />

3. Grades and quality points for courses<br />

transferred into C-<strong>GCC</strong> will not be<br />

used in calculating the grade point<br />

average at the college. Only credits<br />

transferred will be added to the<br />

cumulative credits earned.<br />

4. <strong>College</strong>-level work completed at<br />

<strong>Columbia</strong>-<strong>Greene</strong> or elsewhere will<br />

be credited only where applicable to<br />

the student’s program. A minimum<br />

of 30 semester hours of classroom<br />

instruction must be completed at<br />

<strong>Columbia</strong>-<strong>Greene</strong> for a degree to be<br />

granted. A minimum of 15 semester<br />

hours of classroom instruction must be<br />

completed at <strong>Columbia</strong>-<strong>Greene</strong> for a<br />

certifcate to be granted.tt<br />

5. Students transferring into Massage<br />

Therapy will not receive transfer<br />

credits for science courses completed<br />

more than ten years prior to their entry<br />

at C-<strong>GCC</strong>.<br />

Students transferring into Nursing will<br />

not receive credit for science courses<br />

completed more than ten years prior to<br />

their entry into NU 101. Additionally,<br />

a grade of less than C in any course<br />

will not transfer into the Nursing<br />

Program.
