Harassmentincludes verbal, written, visual, media exposure (e.g. email, advertisements), and physicalconduct that creates an intimidating, hostile, offensive, and poisoned work environment.It may be a single incident or continue over time. Examples of harassmentHarassment is any action that makes someone feel degraded, humiliated, orembarrassed. It includes, but is not limited to:• posters, cartoons, e-mail, telephone calls, conditions of employment that aredegrading, humiliating, or sexual, and requests;• unwelcome sexual remarks, invitations, or requests;• displays of sexually explicit, sexist, racist, or other offensive or derogatory material;• written or verbal abuse or threats;• practical jokes that embarrass or insult someone;• leering (suggestive staring) or other offensive gestures;• unwelcome physical contact, such as patting, touching, pinching, hitting;• patronizing or condescending behaviour;• humiliating an employee in front of co-workers;• abuse of authority that undermines someone’s performance or threatens her or hiscareer;• vandalism of personal property; and• physical or sexual assault.________________________________________________________________________What is Sexual Harassment?Sexual harassment includes unwelcome sexual contact and remarks, leering,inappropriate staring, unwelcome demands for dates, requests for sexual favours anddisplays of sexually offensive pictures or graffiti.
