2009 – 2013 FINA SYNCHRONISED SWIMMING MANUALFOR JUDGES, COACHES & REFEREESSECTION IVGuidelines <strong>for</strong> timing of a reswim:- if less than half of the routine has been per<strong>for</strong>med, schedulereswim after the next 2 routines. [approximately 15 minutesrecovery time]- if more than half of the routine has been per<strong>for</strong>med,schedule reswim after the next 3 routines. [approximately20 minutes recovery time]- if the original start number was just prior to a break, theroutine could reswim as the first competitor after the break.- if a problem occurs during the <strong>fina</strong>l routine of an event, theReferee should determine a suitable recovery time - ie. 10-15 minutes, or sooner if the athlete(s) is/are ready - and askthe officials to remain in their places until the reswim hasoccurred.When a technical problem such as power failure; no underwatermusic; weather conditions, etc., necessitates a reswim, the Refereeshould in<strong>for</strong>m the Coach personally, and the officials and audiencethrough the announcer.• The Referee must be fully knowledgeable about the procedures <strong>for</strong>handling of a protest.
