(5) If the concentration is 0.5 per cent or greater but not more than 1.0 per cent, all of the precautionsset out <strong>in</strong> subsection (4) shall be taken and the electrical equipment, diesel eng<strong>in</strong>es,tools and other material used <strong>in</strong> the workplace shall be designed to function safely <strong>in</strong> a flammablegas atmosphere. O. Reg. 236/99, s. 3.(6) If concentrations of flammable gas exceed 1.0 per cent <strong>in</strong> an area, all of the follow<strong>in</strong>g precautionsshall be taken:1. All sources of ignition <strong>in</strong> the affected area shall be elim<strong>in</strong>ated.2. All electrical equipment <strong>in</strong> the affected area shall be de-energized.3. All persons, other than competent persons necessary to measure the concentration offlammable gas and to make ventilation changes, shall be removed from the affected area.O. Reg. 236/99, s. 3.(7) In m<strong>in</strong>es where flammable gas is known to occur, workers who are underground or diamonddrillers who are on the surface shall be advised of,(a) the probability of encounter<strong>in</strong>g a flow of the gas; and(b) the measures and procedures prescribed <strong>in</strong> this section. O. Reg. 236/99, s. 3.(8) For the purposes of this section, the concentration of flammable gas means the percentage,by volume, of flammable gas <strong>in</strong> the general atmosphere. O.
