PRO<br />

One of the faces of the defensive tackle position in the modern NFL over the last nine seasons, Ngata joins the Lions’ feared<br />

defensive line after spending the previous nine seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, where he was a five-time Pro Bowler<br />

(2009-13) and two-time Associated Press First Team All-Pro selection (2010-11). Ngata played in 135 games (133 starts)<br />

for the Ravens, as well as 16 postseason games.<br />

‣ ¾ In Ngata’s nine seasons with Baltimore, the Ravens defense ranked second in the NFL in opponent rushing yards per<br />

game (92.5) during that span (2006-14), and first in opponent rushing touchdowns (71) during that span.<br />

‣ ¾ Since 2006, only two defensive tackles have more total tackles than Ngata (Justin Smith, 572; Kyle Williams, 455) who<br />

ranks third with 446 during that span (Credited with 528 total tackles by Ravens coaching film review).<br />

‣ ¾ Was a member of the Ravens’ Super Bowl win vs. San Francisco in Super Bowl XLVII. Recorded two tackles and one<br />

quarterback hit in the game.<br />

2014: Started all 12 games he played in, missing four games due to an NFL suspension. Finished his final season in<br />

Baltimore with 32 tackles (19 solo), a career-high seven pass defenses, two forced fumbles and a career-high-tying and<br />

team-leading two interceptions. Was the centerpiece of the defense that ranked second in the League in sacks with 49<br />

and sixth in fewest points per game (18.9).<br />

Entered the NFL Draft following his junior season at Oregon. Was a consensus First Team All-American selection as a junior<br />

and compiled career totals of 151 tackles (83 solo), 24.5 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, seven pass defenses, three forced fumbles<br />

and one fumble recovery in 36 career games (29 starts). Set a school record with seven blocked kicks and was a finalist for<br />

the Outland Trophy (best collegiate interior lineman) and Bronko Nagurski award (best college defensive player) as a junior.<br />

‣ ¾ Consensus All-American honors from the Associated Press, NFL Draft Report, Football Writers Association of America,<br />

Walter Camp Football Foundation, Sports Illustrated and ESPN.com as a redshirt junior in 2005. Also a unanimous First<br />

Team All-Pac-10 Conference selection.<br />

‣ ¾ Named the Pac-10 co-Defensive Player of the Year and was the recipient of the Morris Trophy (Pac-10’s top defensive<br />

lineman) in 2005<br />

PERSONAL<br />

A native of Salt Lake City, Utah, Ngata played his high school football at Highland High School and was a starter in his final<br />

three years. Rated as the top defensive player in the nation by SuperPrep and PrepStar, and was the 2001 Utah Gatorade<br />

Player of the Year as a senior.<br />

‣ ¾ Led his team to the state quarterfinals as a senior following a 12-2 record and a berth in the state championship as a junior.<br />

‣ ¾ Ngata and his wife, Christina, have three sons, Solomone “Sam” (6), Max (3) and Colt (1).<br />
