SUMMARY
In the NFC Wild Card game against the Dallas Cowboys the Detroit
Lions came up short, 24-20. Detroit got out to a quick start when
QB Matthew Stafford and WR Golden Tate hooked up for a 51-yard
score, putting the Lions up seven. With less than two minutes to
play in the first quarter the Lions scored again, this time from RB
Reggie Bush on an 18-yard dazzling run to put Detroit up 14-0.
Dallas responded just before the half. With less than two minutes
to play in the second quarter when Cowboys QB Tony Romo found
WR Terrance Williams for a 76-yard score to bring the Cowboys
within a score. After driving the ball down the field Detroit was
able to add another score when K Matt Prater knocked in a
39-yard field goal to give the Lions a 17-7 leading heading into
the break. Detroit came out in the second half and added another
score early on when Prater tacked on another field goal, this time
from 37 yards to put the Lions up 20-7. Dallas wouldn’t go away,
however. With less than three minutes to play in the third quarter
RB DeMarco Murray scored from a yard out, bringing the Cowboys
within six points. Early in the fourth quarter Cowboys K Dan Bailey
would bring Dallas within three when he converted a 51-yard field
goal. With less than three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter
Romo and Williams hooked up once more, this time for eight yards
for the game-winning score.
