Chad Henry, one of the team’s regional scouts<br />

who evaluates college talent throughout the year,<br />

enters his 19th year working full-time in the Lions’<br />

player personnel department and 20th year overall<br />

in the organization. He originally served as the<br />

team’s BLESTO scout before being promoted to<br />

area scout in 2000.<br />

Henry possesses a variety of experience, both<br />

in coaching and scouting at all levels of football.<br />

Before being hired full-time in 1998, he spent a year<br />

as an intern in the Lions’ personnel department and<br />

assisted in numerous capacities in both college and<br />

pro scouting. He also served as a personnel and<br />

coaching staff assistant for the San Diego Chargers<br />

during training camp in 1996. Among Henry’s<br />

coaching stops were at his alma mater, Indiana<br />

(Pa.) Area Senior High School in the Fall of ‘97,<br />

and as a scholastic level summer league baseball<br />

coach in 1996-97. He is also active with the western<br />

Pennsylvania-based charitable organization The<br />

Homeboys Foundation, including coaching at their<br />

annual free football camp for youth ages 6-18.<br />

Although side effects from a bout with cancer<br />

during high school ended Henry’s playing career<br />

prematurely, he continued in football as a student<br />

assistant at Penn State from 1991-93. He was also<br />

an undergraduate assistant coach and recruiting<br />

assistant at Indiana University of Pennsylvania<br />

upon transferring there in the spring of 1994.<br />

In May 1996, Henry received his bachelor’s<br />

degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania<br />

in English. He completed his master’s work in<br />

labor and industrial relations from the school in<br />

May 1998.<br />

Henry, and his wife, Holly, reside in Pittsburgh,<br />

Pa. They have three children: Leah, Madeline and<br />

Trent. Henry’s father, Jack, coached the Lions’<br />

offensive line from 1997-99, and retired in 2009<br />

after a 40-year coaching career.<br />

Joe Kelleher joined the Lions in June, 2011 and<br />

enters his fifth season with the team. He serves as<br />

the team’s college scouting coordinator and is also<br />

a regional scout, primarily responsible for covering<br />

the Plains/Central region after spending the past<br />

two seasons scouting the Midwest region. Kelleher<br />

originally served as the team’s BLESTO scout<br />

before being promoted to regional scout in 2012.<br />

Kelleher joined the Lions’ Player Personnel<br />

Department after working as a scouting assistant<br />

for National Football Scouting and the National<br />

Invitational Camp (NFL Combine). After his hiring<br />

by National Football Scouting in November<br />

2009, Kelleher assisted in several aspects of the<br />

organization’s operations, including the review of<br />

scouting reports, overseeing daily management of<br />

the NFL Medical Database website and assisting in<br />

the preparation and operations of the NFL Combine<br />

held annually in Indianapolis.<br />

Earlier that year, Kelleher served a six-month<br />

internship as a scouting intern for BLESTO<br />

Scouting.<br />

In 2008, Kelleher interned for the Lions Football<br />

Operations Department, and he assisted with the<br />

team’s training camp logistics, team travel and<br />

other aspects of the team’s day-to-day football<br />

operations. He previously interned with the New<br />

York Giants Pro Personnel Department during<br />

training camp in 2007.<br />

A native of Potomac, Md., Kelleher attended<br />

Butler University and played offensive tackle and<br />

tight end for the Bulldogs football team. Kelleher<br />

graduated from Butler with a bachelor’s degree in<br />

business-marketing, and went on to earn a Master<br />

of Business Administration and a Master of Sports<br />

Administration from Ohio University.<br />

Kelleher and his wife, Jill, reside in Northville,<br />

Michigan.<br />

SEARS<br />

Years in NFL: 19<br />

Dave Sears joined the Lions player personnel<br />

department as a regional scout in May 2007 after<br />

spending seven seasons with the Houston Texans<br />

organization. He joined the Texans’ personnel<br />

department in May 2000 to scout the Central<br />

Region.<br />

Prior to his stint in Houston, Sears spent three<br />

seasons (1997-2000) working with Washington’s<br />

scouting department. He started with the Redskins<br />

as an intern in January 1997 and was hired as their<br />

scouting administrator in May. Sears was promoted<br />

as the Redskins’ BLESTO scout in May of 1998. He<br />

also spent time interning for the Springfield Falcons<br />

in the American Hockey League.<br />

Sears earned a bachelor’s degree in sports<br />

management from Springfield (Mass.) College and<br />

he was a four-year linebacker for Springfield’s<br />

football team. He attended Hauppauge High School<br />

in his hometown of Hauppauge, N.Y., and lettered<br />

in football, basketball and lacrosse.<br />

Sears is married to his wife, Nancy and together<br />

they have a daughter, Delaine.<br />
