SERIES NOTES
‣ ¾Detroit posted a 24-20 win
November 7, 1971 in the first
meeting between the two teams.
After a Detroit fumble and
interception gave the Broncos a
10-0 halftime lead, the Lions roared
back in the second half, scoring
on their first two possessions,
including a Greg Landry-to-Earl
McCullough 76-yard bomb which
gave the Lions the lead.
‣ ¾Denver’s 31-27 Thanksgiving Day
win in 1974 was the last Lions
game played at Tiger Stadium, with
the club moving into the Pontiac
Silverdome the next season.
‣ ¾In 1999, the Lions hosted the
Broncos on another holiday,
Christmas Day, with the Broncos
claiming a 17-7 victory at the
Silverdome.
‣ ¾In Denver’s first regular season trip
to Ford Field November 4, 2007,
the Lions crushed the Broncos 44-
7, which marked the largest margin
of victory, 37 points, by the Lions
since they shutout the Jacksonville
Jaguars 44-0 December 17, 1995.
The 44 points were also the most
by the team since they put up 55
points vs. Chicago November 27,
1997. The 37-point difference by
Denver was the largest margin in
a loss by the Broncos since the
team lost at New Orleans 42-0
November 20, 1988.
‣ ¾Detroit scored the second-most
points in a road game by the club
in a 45-10 win at Denver on October
30, 2011. It was the largest margin
of victory on the road for the Lions
since 1970. CB Chris Houston
registered the fourth-longest
interception return TD in team
history with a 100-yard return.
