‣ ¾Overall, Detroit was 8-7 vs. the
Cleveland Rams, 27-32-1 vs. the
Los Angeles Rams and are 4-3 vs.
the St. Louis Rams.
‣ ¾The inaugural game between the
two teams was played September
10, 1937 when the Lions claimed a
28-0 shutout at Cleveland.
‣ ¾After the Rams moved to Los
Angeles, the clubs faced off twice
each season from 1946-66. The
Rams owned a slight edge, 21-20-
1, in those games played.
‣ ¾The Lions played the Rams on
November 7, 1999 in the first
meeting between the teams since
the Rams moved from Los Angeles
to St. Louis. Detroit won the affair
31-27 at the Silverdome in the final
minute of the game when QB Gus
Frerotte hit WR Johnnie Morton on
a 12-yard touchdown pass with 28
seconds remaining to play for the
game-winning score. On the final
drive, Frerotte completed a 57-
yard pass to WR Germane Crowell
on a fourth-and-26 play to keep
the drive alive.
‣ ¾In the 2003 season finale, the
Lions defeated the St. Louis Rams
at Ford Field, 30-20, denying the
Rams’ bid for homefield advantage
throughout the playoffs.
‣ ¾In the Lions 44-6 win over St.
Louis, October 10, 2010, KR
Stefan Logan tied a team-record
with a 105-yard kickoff return
for a touchdown. QB Shaun Hill
connected on 3 touchdown passes,
CB Alphonso Smith returned a 42-
yard interception for a touchdown
and rookie DT Ndamukong
Suh registered his first career
interception on a tipped pass (20-
yard return).
‣ ¾In the teams’ most recent meeting,
the Lions orchestrated a 27-23
come-from-behind win over the
Rams on September 9, 2012 in
the team’s season home opener.
QB Matthew Stafford led the
team on a nine-play, 80-yard
drive with 1:55 left to play before
finding RB Kevin Smith for a fiveyard
touchdown pass for the goahead
score. The victory marked
Stafford’s seventh-career fourthquarter
game-winning drive when
trailing or tied.
