SUMMARY
The Lions improved to 5-0 in the NFC North Division with a 20-14
win over the Chicago Bears in Week 16. With a 20-14 victory over
the Bears at Soldier Field, the Lions claimed their 11th win this
season to improve to 11-4. Detroit jumped out to an early lead
as RB Reggie Bush scored on a 13-yard run to go up 7-0. After a
muffed punt by the Lions, Bears QB Jimmy Clausen found RB Matt
Forte for an 11-yard score to tie the ball game at 7-7 just before
the half. With less than 11 minutes to play in the third quarter,
Detroit regained the lead when K Matt Prater nailed a 39-yard field
goal to give the Lions a 10-7 lead. Chicago wouldn’t go away, with
2:45 left to go in the third, the Bears would take their first lead of
the game when Clausen connected with WR Alshon Jeffrey for a
20-yard score to put Chicago up four. Trailing 14-10, with less than
eight minutes to play in the fourth, RB Joique Bell scored on a 17-
yard run to regain the lead for the Lions. Prater would add a 30-
yard field goal later to give Detroit a six-point lead, putting them
up 20-14. With one more opportunity to score, the Bears offense
was stalled out once again by the Lions. On 4th-and-10 Clausen
was picked off by S Glover Quin to seal the victory for Detroit.
