Ted Rath returns for his seventh season as the<br />
Lions assistant strength and conditioning coach<br />
after joining the team during the 2009 offseason.<br />
He had spent the previous two years as the<br />
assistant director of strength and conditioning for<br />
his alma mater, the University of Toledo. Rath was a<br />
linebacker for the Rockets (2003-2006) and helped<br />
them claim the 2004 MAC Championship and earn<br />
two bowl game berths, including the 2004 Motor<br />
City Bowl at Ford Field.<br />
While working with Toledo’s strength and<br />
conditioning program, Rath directed the strength<br />
regimens for all 15 of their Olympic Sports. He<br />
also assisted with all phases of football training<br />
protocols, including design and implementation<br />
of their workouts. Prior to being named assistant<br />
director, Rath worked as a graduate assistant<br />
and focused on the strength programs for men’s<br />
basketball, baseball, track, cross country, golf<br />
and swimming.<br />
Rath, along with Coordinator of Physical<br />
Development Jason Arapoff, started the annual<br />
Detroit Lions Strength and Conditioning Clinic in<br />
2011. The event is a forum for providing, sharing<br />
and exchanging information in the ever changing<br />
world of strength & conditioning.<br />
After graduating from Toledo with a degree in<br />
Physical Education, Rath started his professional<br />
career at nearby Crestwood (Dearborn Heights,<br />
Mich.) High School where he was an assistant<br />
football coach as well as their director of speed<br />
and strength training. The Monroe, Mich., native<br />
is certified through the Collegiate Strength and<br />
Conditioning Coaches Association (C.S.C.C.A.).<br />
Rath is a member of the advisory board for<br />
UltimateStrengthAndConditioning.com and is a<br />
contributing expert for Stack Magazine. He has<br />
written articles for multiple publications and<br />
speaks at numerous conferences and football<br />
camps throughout the year.<br />

Evan Rothstein enters his fourth season with<br />
the Detroit Lions. Rothstein was hired in 2012 and<br />
spent two seasons as the team’s special teams<br />
quality control coach. In 2014, Rothstein became<br />
the team’s special projects coach where he worked<br />
with the defense in addition to assisting Head<br />
Coach Jim Caldwell in day-to-day operations and<br />
game day tasks. He returns in <strong>2015</strong> as the team’s<br />
offensive assistant. In this role, Rothstein will work<br />
with the offensive staff in all facets of preparation<br />
for the team’s weekly opponents in addition to<br />
continuing to assist Coach Caldwell.<br />
Rothstein arrived in Detroit after spending two<br />
seasons (2010-11) as the offensive quality control<br />
coach for the Syracuse University Orange football<br />
program. For the fall of 2009, Rothstein interned<br />
with the Syracuse University football video<br />
operations department before returning briefly<br />
to SUNY Cortland as their offensive line coach for<br />
the spring of 2010. He returned to the Syracuse<br />
University football staff as their offensive quality<br />
control coach in July of 2010.<br />
As an undergraduate student at SUNY Cortland,<br />
Rothstein began his coaching career with the Red<br />
Dragons where he served as the student assistant<br />
offensive line coach, quality control and director<br />
of video operations from the fall of 2006 to the<br />
spring of 2009.<br />
Rothstein was born April 20, 1988. The Merrick,<br />
N.Y. native attended Bellmore John F. Kennedy High<br />
School, earning recognition as a National Football<br />
Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar<br />
Athlete for the Cougars. Rothstein graduated<br />
SUNY Cortland with a bachelor of science in sport<br />
management in 2009 and a master of science in<br />
sport management in 2012. He and his wife, Carol,<br />
married in July of 2013.<br />
