‣ ¾The Packers and Lions have met
on Thanksgiving Day 21 times,
with the Lions holding an 12-8-1
advantage in those games. The
Lions have played the Packers
more times on Thanksgiving than
any other team in the league.
‣ ¾The Lions and Packers met 13
consecutive years on Thanksgiving
Day from 1951-1963 with the Lions
winning nine of those contests.
2003 was the Packers’ first visit to
Ford Field on Thanksgiving.
‣ ¾The 11 consecutive wins that
the Lions posted against Green
Bay from December 11, 1949 to
November 25, 1954 are the most
by the Lions against any franchise.
The 11-game streak came after the
Lions were 8-29-1 in the first 38
games of the series.
‣ ¾Frank Sinkwich set a Lions’ record
by intercepting seven passes in a
27-6 loss to the Packers on October

2012. WR Calvin Johnson set a
then-career high with 244 receiving
yards and tied a then-career high
with 11 receptions. His 244 yards
were the third-highest singlegame
tally in Lions history at the
time. Johnson’s one receiving
touchdown gave him 16 on the year,
a new single-season club record.
‣ ¾The Lions claimed a 40-10 win
against the Packers in the team’s
74th Thanksgiving Day game on
November 28, 2013. The team’s
30-point victory margin against the
Packers is the largest since a 34-0
win (34-point margin) vs. Green Bay
October 28, 1973. The 126 total
offensive yards allowed by the
Lions is the lowest yielded by the
team since allowing just 95 yards
at Cincinnati November 22, 1992.
‣ ¾In the teams’ first meeting of
2014 (9/21), the Lions knocked off
the Packers 19-7 as the team’s
defense recorded a safety and
fumble return for a touchdown,
outscoring the Packers offense 9-7.
LB DeAndre Levy and S Don Carey
picked up the safety and defensive
touchdown, respectively, while RB
Reggie Bush’s 26-yard touchdown
run in the fourth quarter sealed
the win.
